Description
Leland Blue is a rock formed from slag along Michigan’s Lake Superior. An iron company’s molten waste rapidly cooled in the waters, forming this cool rock, treasured by Michigan rockhounds. The process of formation is similar to that of obsidian, from cooled volcanic material.
Here, the leland blue is cut by a lapidary and then set (by me) in recycled sterling silver.
The blacks are cut out to reveal the stone from both sides. Hand-forged cone shapes dangle below. The cones are subtly textured with custom etched designs. Truly one of a kind earrings!
The recycled sterling silver is oxidized and polished to a matte finish.
Earrings hand 2 inches from ear (including ear wires).
Lightweight and full of swing! Have fun with these!
