Over 20-30 million years, silica in the ocean replaced the calcium carbonate skeletons of a coral colony, resulting in a type of quartz with this fabulous patterning.
These two lovely specimens of agatized coral are held by hand-fabricated settings made from sterling silver and topped with my signature hand-made silver "buds".
The backs are open, allowing the stones to be seen from either side, and to keep the earrings lightweight.
The sterling is oxidized with a patina and lightly polished to a warm, matte finish.
